After 35 years as dairy farmers, Paul and Natalie Woods decided to opt for a change of lifestyle – although not a change of scenery. They are still based on their stunning Ohaupo dairy farm, albeit with 50 acres now transformed into one of the Waikato’s most exciting equestrian facilities available to the public.
The couple and their daughters Jessica (27) and Mikayla (26) have been bitten hard by the equestrian bug – with mum Natalie and her daughters keen to give most equestrian disciplines a go. They hunt, show, do dressage, show jumping and eventing. And dad Paul is a vital part of the team and their success.
Not only is he an accomplished groom, but he is essential to the continued impeccable upkeep of their new venture – Little Valley Farm. A playground for equestrian lovers, this amazing facility is equipped with everything necessary for a fun day out for you and your horse – whatever your interest.
“When we were starting out with horses, we found it really hard to find somewhere for all of us to go and be able to do our own thing,” said Natalie. “Sometimes one of us wanted to school dressage, while the others wanted to showjump and it was hard to find a place where we could do this – so we created our own!”
The result is a carefully planned and exciting venue, which the Wood’s family have made available to the public for hire. “We want everyone to enjoy it as much as we do and hope it encourages people to come and play in our backyard.”
From groups of friends planning a catch-up to top class national and international trainers holding clinics at the venue, Little Valley Farm is the place to be.
